trying to change the circumstances of a complex situation – only to have it backfire. become more complex. more anxiety inducing. the mud keeps getting stirred and settling is something that only comes from walking away. putting down the proverbial stick.
the wheels get spun up. they keep spinning and spinning. the emotions run higher, the intensity increases. the feeling of stuck despite doing everything in my power to change what is. takes looking at it from a different angle to really change it. maybe help from a friend to get the traction needed for the change we want to see. or maybe… just letting it go entirely.
there’s nothing wrong with walking away, inherently. giving up doesn’t need to be shameful. imagine if the US never left the vietnam war. if chemistry was still hell bent on turning iron into gold. medicine revolved around bloodletting and opiates for all kinds of maladies. the world needs to give up on things from time to time. it’s ok.
i think i write these as self help reminders to myself.. i’m still figuring out the prose
